Travis was going to his colleague's concert tonight to support and he took Makenna along with him. If she was good, she got a chocolate shake afterwards so I called it a 'date'. I can't tell you how excited this little girl was to go somewhere by herself with her daddy! For two hours straight, she just kept saying, "Is it time to go yet, daddy? Let's go, daddy! Come on, daddy!" It was so cute. She literally ran out of the house and was a total ham at the concert. I guess she was good since she came home with a shake. And I know I will be hearing about this for weeks! That girl has a seriously good memory;) I'm thinking they need to do that more often!!

Breathable bumper!
I'm so glad that we bought this. It's awesome!! It's thin but is padded. It has tons of little holes in it and there are no ties!!! I can now let her fuss a little bit when she wakes up in the middle of the night and not worry constantly that she is bonking her head or getting her feet or legs stuck in between the bars. I also know that she isn't getting her head stuck under the bumper (it happened with my other one). And it's helping us get more, much needed sleep and I recommend it to anyone with babies.
*Ever since she started crawling last week, Jordyn has already started climbing up on stuff and standing. I caught her trying to climb the stairs to get something the other day. We have a gate but it doesn't go on the bottom two stairs so that might get a little scary. She also reached for me last night and loves to play with Travis' chin hair especially when she is tired. It's so cute. And miss Kenna is such a good big sis. She makes J.J. laugh all of the time. All Jordyn has to do is see her sister and she will have a huge grin on her face. I love having two girls. They are already best friends;)
And I really can't believe that it's been a high of 64-67 degrees all weekend. At the end of May!!!

Pretty pink
Makenna has been asking me to paint her toes so I finally repainted them while she was eating. And wouldn't you know, there were these other cute little piggies that were just begging to be painted;) I couldn't resist.

Grandma
Unfortunately, my grandma is in the hospital because of a stroke:( I hate seeing her like that but I'm making sure the girls and I see her as often as we can. We went up there today to see how she was doing and Makenna was so excited. I told her we weren't going to her house but that she was sick and in the hospital. She drew her a get well card picture on the way and couldn't wait to give it to her. I'm so glad that Makenna has grown close to her great grandma. I really feel that she just wants to go to the other side and be with her forever love but I hope that she fights for a little longer. We aren't ready for her to leave just yet. As we were going to her hospital room, Makenna looks in a room and yells, "That's not my Great Grandma"!!! It was so cute. I'm sure my grandma felt that love from this sweet little child of mine and I pray that she gets better soon.

Sleepy and Hungry;)
Makenna has been bugging me alot to let her feed J.J. I usually say no because I don't want the mess but I was so tired this morning that I let her do it. She did a really good job. Jordyn just ended up a little messier in the end;) (Excuse the morning fro;)
Jordyn has been really hard to put down for naps lately. I don't know if another tooth is trying to come through or what but she fights me like crazy. I finally gave up and went visiting teaching and this is what she did when we got home and I was feeding her lunch;) I guess I'm just going to have to wait until she is exhausted and put her down when she can't stay awake any longer. I thought she was adorable though!! (Ignore the Caillou in the background;)

Holy Hannah, are we in trouble??
Is it the sign of the times or what??? From weather to politics, I'm really starting to get nervous. Travis always watches Fox news and they were reporting about Obama yesterday. They were saying that he doesn't think Iran is a threat at all. Um.....are you kidding me??? I'm so nervous that we will be left vulnerable if a democrat gets voted in. They aren't going to protect us at all. I'm tired of the war too but you can't be so stupid as to think that certain countries aren't a threat just because you think that anti-war is the popular way to go to get voted in. And then from the cyclone to the earthquake, holy moly. And our own weather is going crazy. I don't ever remember our temperature going from 108 to 73 in two days. I'm not complaining about that one because 108 is just way too hot already, but wow, that is weird. And there have been tons of earthquakes in Reno. They have always said that we have the most faults here and you never know when they are just going to start shifting. And then don't get me started on gas!! I'm going to have to start putting my kids in the bike trailer to get around. But then again I don't want to die. People drive so crazy that it would be way to scary to go to too many places like that. Let alone it would be way too hot in the summer. Ugh!! I just want to bury my head in the sand and be ignorant but unfortunately Travis won't let me. He listens to that Fox news all the time. That's awesome that he wants to be up on current events but I'm going to have to start going in the other room so I don't get an ulcer!!!

My baby is 8 months old!!
I can't believe it and my sweet J.J. has hit a few milestones over the weekend as well. Like I said before, she got another tooth. It is her third on the bottom to the left and she had another good night of sleep last night. I'm hoping it continues. Also over the last week she has been saying Da-Da. And on Saturday she started saying it all the time. She just kept saying it over and over which made Travis grin ear to ear. Also on Saturday, my Jordyn just decided it was time to crawl!!! She wanted something across the room and just up and got it. It was so cool. It's a cute, different kind of crawl but she will be becoming a pro at this in no time and be across the floor in seconds very soon. Oh how I love this sweet 20 pound baby girl. She grows and changes every day and I'm so thankful that she is ours;)

I'm going to the temple!!
We needed to get some stuff at the distribution center so we took the opportunity to walk around the grounds of the temple as well. Makenna was totally excited even though she didn't even realize exactly where we were going. We drove by a random church and she asked if that was the temple. Oh no sweetie. The temple is much more beautiful. She loved the flowers and just wanted to run all over the place. Jordyn was content and just wanted to play with her toy attached to the stroller. Then when we were about to leave, Makenna holds her bum and exclaims, "I gotta go poooopooooo!!" Where in the world am I going to take her to the bathroom. We aren't exactly dressed for the temple so I see if there is a bathroom in the distribution center. She tells me to go inside the temple. I give her a look like, are you crazy, and she said it was ok. It was just inside the foyer. Well, I had a desperate kid on my hands so inside the temple we go. I haven't been for quite awhile since I have had a nursing baby attached to me and it reminded me of how much I miss it. I need to go soon. It's just so peaceful. We successfully go to the bathroom and on the way out miss Kenna sees the huge painting with Jesus in it. She yells "JESUS" and points to him. It was so cute. She really didn't want to leave. I had to promise that we would get slurpees on the way home to get her to leave;)

Grumpy GusÜ
Jordyn's third tooth finally broke through today!! It is her third one on the bottom (no top teeth yet) and even though she slept better last night than she has in a long time, I got no sleep. I was having a really hard time falling asleep in the first place because Travis was snoring some very loud logs. His allergies were bugging him and he took a benadryl. Usually I can roll him over and he will stop but last night he would stop for a minute and then start right up again. By midnight, I still hadn't fallen asleep and then I heard Lady get up and go downstairs. I followed her down and let her out so she wouldn't leave me any treats for me when I woke up. By the time I got back to bed, I had to start all over again because I was wide awake. Then by the time I finally fell asleep, Makenna woke up complaining about the wind!! I don't even think there was any wind. Then a half hour later, she wakes up again because her water is empty. By this time, it was 3:30. At 4:00 Jordyn wakes up. I'm happy that she slept until this time but not happy that I haven't slept much if at all before this. Back to bed by 4:40 but again wide awake. I tried to get as much sleep as I could but Jordyn was up for the day again by 6:30!! I am so grouchy when I don't get my sleep and Travis can account for that this afternoon. I haven't even been able to take a nap because the binds' guy came to change out all our blinds right at nap time. Ugh!! Thank goodness it's Friday!! I'm hoping that Jordyn continues to sleep better so that maybe I can actually take some benefit from it. We ordered a breathable bumper too so I bet that helps as well. At least I can always hope so!!!

Training wheels
Makenna's tricycle wheel totally broke off a couple of weeks ago so I started looking for another one to replace it. I found this bike at Walmart and it wasn't much more than a tricycle so I had Makenna get on it and try it out. I just didn't think that my little three year old was ready for an actual bicycle (I tried to call it a bike and she corrected me and said it was a bicycle;) with training wheels but believe me, she is. She absolutely loves it and doesn't ever want to get off of it. I have to promise that she will get to ride hers as soon as Grandma and I get to ride ours while they ride in the trailer. And she never forgets a promise;) Today she got off of her bike and Grandma asked if she was done and she just said, "No, I just need to "chill" for a minute."
As for Jordyn, I just keep waiting for that day when she figures out the crawling. She is so close and I know it's just going to click one day soon. In the meantime, she loves to practice.
And as soon as I took that video of her sitting up, she became a pro at it. The day after, she just started doing it like she has always done it. She sits up in like two seconds. She will get all the way across the room just by rolling and sitting, rolling and sitting.

Happy Mothers Day
Happy Mothers Day first to my mom! I'm so thankful that I was sent to you. You are an amazing mom and an even better grandma. I love that they see you on a very regular basis and get to grow up with you too. We are so lucky. Also, to my grandma who is such a loving and caring woman and who I hope to have many more years with. To my mother in law who raised a wonderful man and loves my kids. That wonderful man who took the girls downstairs and let me sleep in. Who cooked me french toast and bacon and eggs and served it to me in bed. And who is an amazing father (love you babe;). And Happy Mothers Day to my sister and sister in laws and to all my friends. I hope you all have a great day!!

Crawling around the corner?
Jordyn is getting better and better every single day. It doesn't take her long to master things now. I'm not sure if I want her crawling yet though. It's nice that she stays in the same general area that I put her down in but I'm thinking that will come to an end pretty soon. Jordyn just wants to go straight to walking though. She gets on her feet instead of her knees a lot and then does a silly head stand. I hope my house is child proof enough right now;)

Feeling guilty;(
I had a rough day today and I'm totally feeling guilty. Sometimes I feel like such a bad mom. Jordyn is teething really bad and not going to sleep very well. She just kicks and screams and pushes my arms away. It drives me insane!! I know she is sooo tired but she just fights and fights. I get so mad at her and it's so stupid because she is just a little baby. And then later, I feel so bad because she is so sweet and beautiful and makes my heart sing. Ugh!! Part of being a mom!! This stubborn tooth needs to break through already!!
On a better note, she has sat up three times but I haven't actually watched her do it yet. She likes to do it when I turn my head. I even sat by her tonight with the camera on her for a long time and she wouldn't do it for me. She almost got there tons of times but then got bored with it and just rolled over. Ü What a stinker!

Music, music, music
Phew! Today was a long one. We left for church at 12:30 this afternoon and didn't get home until 9:00 tonight. Before church, Travis was warming up for a stake choir and orchestra concert tonight and our girls kept matching his pitch. Makenna matches it so well and even Jordyn kept making noises with him. It was so cute. After church, we went to my parents house to have dinner and cake for my dad's birthday and then rushed over to the stake center for the concert. It was so nice and I always love hearing Travis play. I feel so proud of him and he just gives me goose bumps. It's just nice to actually hear him in a LDS church since they don't like trumpets in the normal meetings. I personally don't understand why because I think it's a very beautiful instrument and you can use things like mutes to make them quieter but I digress. Anyway, so after that, I picked up my girls from my parents house hoping that Jordyn would fall asleep on the way home (since it was way past her bedtime) and of course that didn't happen. She was screaming and this sweet, wonderful child of mine started singing her church songs the whole way home. Makenna is such a good big sis and I love to hear her sing. I'm thinking that she is going to be very big into music like her daddy.
