What's that smell???
A few weeks ago, I finally got a massage!! My shoulder had been killing me for a few weeks so I made sure I got it worked on. While I was at it, I did a scrub on myself and sat in the steam room. It was glorious and very overdue!! I don't remember the last time I got a massage and it took a bum shoulder to make me remedy that. Anyway, I was showered and feeling good when I got home that night. I snuggled up to my Kenna and she sniffs me and declares, "Mom, you stink!!" I guess she didn't like my body scrub;)
On a side note, Jordyn got her 12th tooth the other day. Her 4th molar came through and I didn't even realize it. I found it on 9/26 but I'm sure it came up before that!

Ta-Da
In Makenna's gymnastics, they do a Ta-Da at the end of a jump or exercise. I was practicing with her and showing her what she was supposed to do when she jumps off the balance beam. They throw up their arms and do a little Ta-Da! Someone is very observant and wanted to participate too.....

Check up stats
I had to take J.J. to her 12 month doctor's appointment so I thought I would record some stats for her. She weighs 21 pounds 3 ounces and is in the 54% (a big drop from when she was younger). She hasn't gained much with all the walking and toddling around she is doing. She is 29 1/4 inches long and is in the 51% (which is an increase from the 30's) so she is growing!! She still seems short to me;) And finally her head size is 18 inches which is in the 80%. She's always had a big head from birth thoughÜ They put my poor baby through the ringer today. She got three shots plus a flu shot and they took blood from her toe to check her lead level (they just got a machine that tells them if they have been exposed to lead which is awesome and covered by insurance) Have I said how glad I am that I switched pediatricians!! Thanks Jen! Anyway, her lead level is fine and I was sent off with a whimpering, sore baby girl. But I took her to story time with her sister and Grandma and she was clapping and laughing away and then took a two and a half hour nap when we got home!!! It sure does suck taking a healthy baby in and taking a cranky, not feeling good baby home;(

Jordyn's Party!!

Listening to the Spirit
Sometimes it's amazing how quickly you get an answer to a prayer. And I think it's so neat how the Lord will help us even when it is with simple things. Last night was Jordyn's birthday party and I don't know if it was because there were so many people and distractions or what but she would not eat very well. She would take a couple of bites and then start spitting. We kept trying throughout the night and she would take a few bites and be done. She ate some cheerios finally and a full bottle of milk before she went to bed and was so tired from the festivities that she zonked out quickly. I was expecting a deserved nice night of sleep. I was wrong!! Jordyn started screaming at 12:30 a.m. Since she has had a bad diaper rash, I went in to check to make sure she hadn't pooped. She hadn't and she quickly fell asleep again in my arms. I put her down thinking I get to back to sleep (I was in a deep slumber when she decided to wake up) but I was wrong again. About five minutes later she woke up again. Since Travis was still up, I asked him to cuddle her. He did and put her down and about five minutes later, she started screaming again. This isn't normal J.J. so we wondered if she was gassy with having bites of cake and various treats that she had never had before. Travis gave her gas drops while I changed her diaper and put cream on (just in case). I sang to her again and put her down. It looked like she was going to be good but then five minutes later, she started screaming again. At this point, I was ready to let her cry because she had been changed and everything was fine. I was thinking that she just wanted to be held while she slept! I listened as she screamed and I was so frustrated because I was so exhausted. I said a quick prayer that she would be comforted so that she would be able to go to sleep. I laid in bed while I listened to her and it came to me that she was probably hungry. I jumped up and ran downstairs to get her some milk. She snatched that milk right out of my hands and when she was done, I took her back into her room to cuddle her for a few minutes before I put her down. Once she saw her bed, she pulled away from me to get into her crib. I put her down and didn't hear another peep from her until 7:45 this morning. That was exactly what she needed and wanted and I am so thankful that my prayer was answered and we could all get some much needed sleep;)

Happy 1st Birthday Jordyn!!
I can't believe it's been a whole year since you were born sweetheart. You were a hard pregnancy for me but well worth it. And looking at these pictures, I can see why your head was measuring 40 weeks at week 36;) Those are the most adorable cheeks ever (everyone said so;)
Oh, look at how you have grown over the past year......

Look at my big one year old girl!!
I cannot tell you how much you have blessed our lives sweetheart. You have the cutest, sweetest personality that keeps everyone smiling! I have fallen in love with your sweet spirit and you give us loves and kisses all the time which we just eat up!! You are a great little sister. You let your sister pick you up and play with you all the time. You also have the cutest, short, chunky legs with the cutest chunky feet that I love to nibble on and the most adorable dimple underneath your left eye!! I always know when you are smiling just by looking at your eyes. I'm so thankful that you chose us to be your parents. We love you so much Jordyn!! Happy Birthday baby girl!!

Mrs. Klutz and her klutzetts
We have had a crazy week so far and it's only Wednesday. Last night after I got home from work, I made some ramen because I was starving. All of a sudden, Jordyn drops her bottle, the top comes off and milk is spilled everywhere. I set my noodles down to start to clean it up and before I know it, Makenna had dumped my noodles onto her hand and was screaming bloody murder. She burned her hand really good and I was flabbergasted as to why she would touch the hot soup. She knows better. She later told Travis that she was trying to get some paper towels to help clean up the milk. What a sweetie. Anyway, she kept her hand in cold water and it's much better today. Well, today it was my turn. I didn't have to work because it was slow so I decided to actually make dinner and being the cool wife and mom that I am, I baked some yummy chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Unfortunately while I did it, I burned the crap out of my arm. I haven't burned it this bad since we first got married. I'm thinking that I probably won't be able to do deep tissue massage for a little while. Then after my fiasco, Jordyn decides to trip (she does this all the time now that she is walking) and falls right into the kitchen table and gets a big bump on her forehead. Lovely!!
It may be hard to see but it's all swollen!! Ouchies;(
And Jordyn also got her first car ride facing forward!!! She looked so big in that big car seat!! She also decided she needed to break through one more tooth before she turned one. It's her bottom left molar and this makes number 11!!!
Makenna is also chatting it up on her buzz phone in the background. She has been really into the boy movies lately. She loves Toy Story (the second more than the first) and now is into Cars. She wants to watch it everyday!! Maybe our Nascar watching is rubbing off on her;)
I also gained a little perspective recently. I came downstairs the other night after I put the girls to bed and looked at a messy house. I was a little frustrated because it seems like I clean all the time but it never seems clean. I vented about this to my hubby and he nicely put me in my place. He asked me if I wanted a clean house or my cute little girls!! Of course I would give anything for my girls and I will take the messy house.

The Little Children
Makenna: Mommy, Grandma said that Jesus loves me.
Me: That's right sweetheart!
Makenna: Where is He mom?
Me: Up in Heaven.
Makenna: I couldn't find Him in our house anywhere.
Me: You can't see Him but he's here.

Scary and funny!!
I was over at my mom's house so we could color each other's hair and my kids were playing in the backyard. Jordyn was happy go lucky while I was getting it colored but once my mom put the shower cap on, she got all timid. She cuddled up to my dad (which he didn't mind one bit) and wouldn't come to me AT ALL!! She was totally scared of that crazy thing on my head. I washed my hair and had a towel on my head thinking this would make her feel better (she's seen me with at least that on before) but she still shied away from me. I had to change her diaper, which she didn't enjoy, and she started to scream. I tried to calm her down and she just kept screaming and screaming. My mom finally told me to lose the towel, which I did, and started to sing to her. Once I started singing, she immediately stopped crying and finally cuddled up to me. Poor baby. So, if everything else fails, sing!!!
I also have to mention my funny Makenna! The funniest things have been coming out of her mouth. Mostly because it's a carbon copy of me!! If Jordyn is fussy or crying, she will say, "Goodness gracious child" or "Oh my goodness!!" She will also say, "I'm not playing with you" or "Be patient!!" Ugh....I need to watch what I say around this one. She is definitely my parrot. But at the same time, she will come up with her own stuff. Jordyn was waking up from her nap in her crib and Makenna wanted to go get her by herself! But she told me to come help her in a minute because she can't roll her window down!!! She had both Travis and I laughing!!! Also, just this morning, I laid back down once I put Jordyn down for a nap and my Kenna came up to snuggle with me. She leaned her head on mine and said she loved me. It was so precious. Then she said out of the blue "oyo?" I say that to her all the time because 'oyo?' means 'You hear me?' in Spanish. Travis would say that to me all the time so it stuck with me. Obviously I use it a lot since my parrot is saying it now. My funny kid;)

Goodbye old friends
It's been a great year and you've worked so hard, sometimes even working in the middle of the night. You've saved us a lot of money over this past year which we truly appreciate. We stuck with it even when at first it was pretty painful. I'm so glad we did because it was so worth it. It was a very fulfilling experience and we reaped the rewards from it. But it is time to move on. I need to get back to my old self. You know......average. You will be missed (mostly by Travis) but we know you will be back. Goodbye nice, big, nursing boobies. I'll see you in a couple of years;)

Gymnastics update
Since we didn't have class last week because of Labor Day, today was only the second time we have gone. Today went soooo much better than last time. I went super early so I could talk to the teacher and tell her my concerns. She wasn't really receptive to me at first. She said that she usually likes them to start coming at 18 months old!!! Um, yeah. I don't think any kid is ready to do a gymnastics class at 18 months old but that is just me. The class ended up going alot better so our talk must have gone better than I thought. And Makenna was just a super, amazing, good girl so that helped as well. She followed directions and waited her turn. She went through each thing in the right order. She did so awesome!! I can't tell you how proud I was of her. I overheard some ladies talking about how it took their kid like 5 months for their kids to do what they were told and to not be shy and there was my girl on her second class doing everything like a pro. I'm still not thrilled with the teacher but she will do for now. I don't care as long as Makenna is having a great time!!Ü
Isn't her leotard thingy so cute?? Her pants kept falling down last week and showing her cute little moon so I figured we needed to get one.
I clicked the pic just as she was finishing an awesome somersault.
And of course these are the rings that she has been wanting to get her hands on. She figured out how to flip around backwards on them and her teacher and another parent was very impressed;)

I love Fall!
I love this time of year. The weather starts to get cooler. The holidays are around the corner. And of course, football is on!! I told Travis that I got a bunch of snacks for the games and he looks at me and says, "Are you a dude?" What? So I like sports!! Soooo!! Makenna came to my defense and said, "Daddy, Mommy is not a dude!!" Thanks Kenna bear!! Is it bad for a chic to love to watch sports??? Is it bad that I wanted to go to a San Francisco 49ers game for our honeymoon? I'm thinking not!! I just hope this season is better for the 49ers than the last couple. It just hasn't been the same since Steve Young retired!! *Sigh*

Laptops;)
As we were getting ready for bed, Makenna closed up her laptop and put it right next to her Daddy's. Can you tell which one is who's? lol;)

Lovin' the drums!
Before school started, we visited daddy at work while he was getting things set up. Makenna absolutely loves this because she gets to play on the drums. She runs around like a crazy girl playing on everything. She especially loves to play on the drum set. She figured out how to do the bass drum with her foot last time and sat down and played like a pro.
Jordyn got to play as well. She was having a good time.
On a side note, Jordyn will probably be totally walking before her birthday. I didn't think she would be but she is always surprising me. She won't even be close to doing something and then all of a sudden, she will just do it. The last two days, she will stand up by the couch and just start walking until she either falls down or reaches something else that she can hang on to. If she catches you watching her, she will stop in the middle of her walk and stand and clap (we applaud her all the time for walking;). She gets so excited that she is doing it. It's so stinking adorable.

This easy, really?
I have a love/hate relationship with the binky. I loved that it helped to calm Makenna down when she was little and help her to sleep but I hate that it is something that they can have such a hard time giving up. Even though I couldn't get rid of Makenna's binky until she was 2 1/2, I still wanted to give Jordyn one. I really think it's a good calming tool. Sometimes she took to it really well and others not so much. I thought that she probably wouldn't care for it as much as her sister did and I was right. I believe that we are done with the binky already. And I probably should just throw them all away to make sure I don't give one back to her! For the last month, Jordyn hasn't wanted it and goes to sleep well without it. It is soooo awesome. She has gotten to the point that all I have to do is go into her room, start singing her songs, and her head is on my shoulder. I finish, put her down and that is it!!! She would fuss for a couple of minutes at first but now she just goes right to sleep. I love this since my mom has to put her to sleep when I'm working and I would hate it if it was a pain of a process. I used to have to cuddle her, put the binky in and rock her just right to get her to sleep. Since that is now a thing of the past and all she used it for was sleep, we will be giving up the binky for good before she is even one!! Yay!!
What am I going to do for church though;)
