Farewell Sweet Bubba

My parents beloved dog Bubba went to heaven today. He had been sick for awhile so we knew it was coming but it's still hard. Makenna was saying her prayers tonight and said, "bless grandma so she won't cry anymore". He was such a sweet big boy. Love ya bubs.

After baby

I saw this on babycenter and thought it was cute. It's 15 things that change after you have a baby.

1. "You discover how much there is to say about one tooth."

2. "You finally realize that true joy doesn't come from material wealth."

3. "You now know where the sun comes from."

4. "You'd rather buy a plastic tricycle than those shoes that you've been dying to have."

5. "You realize that although sticky, lollipops have magical powers."

6. "You don't mind going to bed at 9 p.m. on Friday night."

7. "Silence? What's that?"

8. "You realize that the 15 pounds you can't seem to get rid of are totally worth having."

9. "You discover an inner strength you never thought you had."

10. "You no longer rely on a clock — your baby now sets your schedule."

11. "You give parents with a screaming child an 'I-know-the-feeling' look instead of a 'Can't-they-shut-him-up?' one."

12. "Your dog — who used to be your 'baby' — becomes just a dog."

13. "You take the time for one more hug and kiss even if it means you'll be late."

14. "You learn that taking a shower is a luxury."

15. "You realize that you can love a complete stranger."

Santa's scary!!!

We went to the mall to get the girls picture taken with Santa. I thought Makenna would be good this year since she was older but I guess not! I was hyping it up for her and said that we were going to see Santa and that she could tell him that she wants a scooter for Christmas. She was excited about it until right when I was going to put her on his lap. She clung to me and said, "Santa's scary". I tried to convince her otherwise but to no avail. So we got another crying picture. But that's ok. Jordyn didn't seem phased at all but I'm sure she will be next year. Good times.

Santa's beard was real!! Poor guy looks like he's having fun:)

I thought I would include last years pic for fun. It's even the same Santa. He's smiling in this one.

No more binky!!!

This is Makenna's last night with the binky!!

And this is Makenna putting her binkys in her new bear!

This week, we got Makenna to get rid of the binky! Finally!!! Travis pointed out to me that I kept pushing back my deadline. At first it was, when she turned two. Then she got her two year molars and that blew that out of the water. Then I was pregnant and tired so I said after we get her in her big girl bed and potty trained. Because those were more important to me to get done before the baby than the binky. Well, now the baby is here and she was still sucking on the binky but I'm so glad I waited until after J.J. was born because she would have totally regressed anyway. Then I said after our trip to Disneyland in December and that is when it clicked. I did keep making excuses for when to get rid of it. I was waiting more for me than for her. I didn't want to give up the binky. It has been so easy to just 'plug it' when she gets upset, tired or just plain noisy (especially at church). So I think it was just as hard of a transition for me as it was for her. Well almost. Anyway, I heard this idea to go get a new bear at build a bear and put all of the binkys into that. I thought that was an awesome idea and hyped it up all week and told her the binky fairy was also going to come and give her treats when she got rid of the binky. I was going to try as much as I could to help her through this. Well, she was so excited all week and picked out her bear that she was going to stuff. And then we told her to put her binkys in the bear and she was like "What???" I don't think she totally got it but she put them in anyway. That night was the worst. She cried for about 45 minutes and she finally went to sleep after I cuddled her and sang to her. The next day she fussed for a little while for her nap but after that she has been great!!! She still asked for it for a couple of days afterwards but I think it was just a habit that she had to break. And so did mom. Now she asks for 'binky bear' that has her binkys in it. That's his name and she cuddles with him when she goes to sleep!!! Success!!!

Here we go

So, my friend Sarah, has finally convinced me to do a blog. I love to e-mail pics of my beautiful girls so I thought this would be an easier way for friends and family to see them and to keep in touch. Makenna also keeps saying things that crack us up and I needed somewhere to share them. She's my little parrot which isn't always the best thing but it makes me try to do better. We are currently trying to get her to stop saying 'punk'. I didn't realize how much both Travis and I said it. It doesn't seem like such a bad word but it just doesn't sound right when a little girl says it. She is also another little mommy to our baby Jordyn (J.J.) and always wants to do things for her. It's so funny because she hates that she can't feed her. Sometimes she tries to hold my boob and acts like she is the one that is feeding her. She also gets a little jealous that she can't have what J.J. has. I asked her what she wanted for lunch one day and she said, "some booboo". That is my two year old for you.
Jordyn has been sleeping seven hours straight this last week which is awesome for a two month old. Woo Hoo!!! It makes a big difference. I was way too cranky when she was only sleeping a couple of hours at a time. She was up again by the time I had fallen asleep. I just hope it stays like this. She went from sleeping five hours to six and now seven hours so we hope it just keeps getting better. Jordyn is such a sweet baby and smiles at us all the time. Especially for Travis. All he has to do is talk to her and she gets a big ol' grin on her face. I can't wait to see her little personality grow and develop.
We are already getting into the Christmas spirit. All of our decorations are up and I can't wait to do our advent calendar with Makenna. She is just at the right age where she will understand (well at least in a two year old sort of way). She got a little upset when I said it was Jesus' birthday because SHE wanted the presents. Hopefully she will start to get what the true meaning of Christmas is.
Well, that is my first post. I hope that you enjoy reading all about our craziness as much as we love living it.
