Men!!

I've officially lost five pounds. Yay! It's going slower than last time but I'm not being as good as I was either. Anyway, I was looking at my progress and was showing Trav. I was mentioning to him that I was starting to look good....right honey??? And this was his answer....classic man answer! "Yeah, but you don't get to eat anything good!!"

Thanks babe;)

Eight years!

I can't believe it's been eight years since I got lucky and this handsome man married me;)

We have known each other most of our lives now....I guess that's what happens when you get older;-) We've known each other since we were 12 and both of us had high hair!! I think it's so cool that we can look back on our school years and remember friends and teachers that are exactly the same.
I think this is a High School pic though;)
Jr. High

We got back together again in our early 20's after I had a dream about him;)
Sigh...look at how young we look!
I called him, we went out and he called me everyday after that. We got married two years later.
We had our first baby shortly after we got married;) Well, the furry kind!

And now eight years later, we are a family of four plus a furry one. I love our happy, little family and I love my sweet, amazing husband. Happy Anniversary babe!
(Yes, this pic is a year old but I like it;)

I was just wondering...

Why people drive to their mailboxes? I wonder about this every time I see someone do it which is quite often. It really isn't that far away. I've seen people stop in their cars when their houses are literally across the street. Isn't it more of a pain to stop, turn you car off, take your keys out, get your mail, get back in the car, turn the car back on and drive the little bitty way to your house??? What's wrong with a little exercise? Ü

How come my kiddos only throw up in the middle of the night. I was up ALL night for two evenings last week. First on Monday night for Jordyn and then Wednesday night for Kenna. It made me realize that in the four years of being a mommy, my kids have never thrown up during the day. Weird.

If I'm ever going to be able to do my hair in the morning without my baby screaming with her arms around my leg and pushing me away from the sink;(

Why people give me dirty looks when they were the ones that cut me off!!!

Why people ring my door bell or call right when I put the kids down for a nap.

If I'm ever going to get my den and backyard clean again? It's bad!

If I'm ever going to put pics of our 'family' in our frame that is on the wall instead of the ones that came with it;)

Why Makenna takes long naps for Travis when I'm at work but just sits up there making noise when I'm home.

How I can practically fall asleep standing up when I'm massaging.

How I snagged such a handsome man. This is how he came home from festival yesterday and I had to take a candid shot of him. (I bought that suit for him when we were dating) We never take pics of each other anymore anyway.Ü

In an effort to be more frugal!!

Before....(and this was a month ago)

During;)
After

We bought some clippers and Travis shaved Lady. I just couldn't justify spending that much money on getting her hair cut if I wasn't doing it for myself. I think Travis did a great job. The first picture doesn't really show how really hairy Lady was. She did really well too. Once she figured out what we were trying to do, she just laid down and hung out. That is until he started moving toward the rear;) Haha!

I think he's done.....

with projects this summer. Travis has been a busy bee painting and doing baseboards and a chair rail in the den. He finally finished with that and decided to redo the fishtank to match our painting in that room. I must say he did a great job!!! But I'm also glad the projects are finished. I'm tired of my house being a mess;)

This is what it looked like before.

And this is what it looks like now.

My parents got us a numbered original painting of the Nauvoo temple when we went there last year that is beautiful. I think the fish tank goes very well with it now.

Now if I can only get him to clean the garage;)

Our little drummer!!

Travis concert was a week and a half ago and Makenna loves to go to them because she gets to hit the drums afterwards. She goes running around the room like a crazy girl playing every instrument that she can get her hands on. The bottom pic of Travis conducting was taken by Makenna. It's at an angle but I thought it looked pretty cool. And the top one of him is afterwards and you can just see the relief on his face;) He was finally done!!

Scratching the itch!!

It's our 7th wedding anniversary and I'm so thankful that I married this man!! And to think it all started with a dream. Nine years ago, I had a dream about Travis out of the blue and I couldn't get him out of my head. Throughout the morning, a voice in my head kept telling me to call him and I kept telling it NO!! I had only seen him twice since we graduated, at his farewell and when he spoke at my friends church. I kept telling myself that it would be crazy to call him. But that voice wouldn't go away so I finally caved in. I called him and we got together a couple of days later to catch up as FRIENDS!! I think we both went "Wow" at each other when we saw each other for the first time in a few years. He had gained some weight and I had lost some (about 30 pounds). We had a ton of fun and talked for hours before he left for the night. He called me everyday after that and by the end of the week, we both knew it was going to be more. (He always says I chased after him but he did all the calling. I only did the first one;) Anyway, it was neat dating someone that I had known half of my life and had so many things in common with. It was so easy. I already knew his family and he knew mine. Our moms had even served in the young women's presidency together;) Our friendship was old but this relationship was definitely new. He had grown from a skinny teenager to a handsome man and had matured a lot from his mission. We dated two years before we got married but I think we both knew we would always be together.

All in all our wedding day went very smooth. There were only a few blunders leading up to it. I fainted getting my dress fitted and fell right on the seamstress. I had never fainted before but I think I just got real hot. Also, the church got double booked so there were people in the gym watching a movie when we were supposed to decorate. Everyone was waiting out in the hall talking about coming back in the morning (the actual wedding day) and I was not going to have that. I marched right in there and asked them to move to a different room which they thankfully did. My mom was still sewing my sister's dress and my dad was fixing his breaks to his truck the morning of my wedding. Plus, my hairdresser was late and we couldn't find my flowers for the reception for the longest time. I guess there were quite a few things now that I am writing them down but it really wasn't that bad.

Everything was forgotten once he came to pick me up. We drove to the temple in awe just enjoying the moment. It was hot and very windy but also overcast so it was nice. It was amazing once we were at the temple. I'm normally a very nervous person but I couldn't believe how calm I was. President Ense married us and it was so neat. He wasn't even supposed to be the one to do it but I'm so glad that he did because he did an incredible job. He told us afterwards that he felt the spirit very strongly while he married us and that the Lord approves of our marriage. So cool!! It was truly a wonderful experience and it made all the planning worth while. I can't imagine being married anywhere else and I can't imagine being sealed for eternity to anyone else. I'm so thankful to have such a wonderful husband that loves me despite my shortcomings. I picked a good one and there is no seven year itch here;) Love you honey!

Daddy/Daughter Date

Travis was going to his colleague's concert tonight to support and he took Makenna along with him. If she was good, she got a chocolate shake afterwards so I called it a 'date'. I can't tell you how excited this little girl was to go somewhere by herself with her daddy! For two hours straight, she just kept saying, "Is it time to go yet, daddy? Let's go, daddy! Come on, daddy!" It was so cute. She literally ran out of the house and was a total ham at the concert. I guess she was good since she came home with a shake. And I know I will be hearing about this for weeks! That girl has a seriously good memory;) I'm thinking they need to do that more often!!

Feeling Sentimental

On this day in 2001, Travis took me out to dinner to Red Lobster. He had been very busy with school and wanted to do something fun with me. We had a very yummy dinner and started to head home, or so I thought. He ended up taking me up to the temple. We walked around once and about froze our butts off. Travis started back to the car. I was cold but I didn't want to go so soon. We weren't leaving. He popped open the trunk and there was a big box wrapped in comic strip paper (total guy wrapping;) He said he had gotten me an I love you present. We found a quiet place to open it and there were a ton of tickets in it. We had gone to the Luxor a few weeks before to play some games and he got me a plastic ring with ten tickets that we had won. We joked that it was my engagement ring. So then Travis asked if I wanted to trade my tickets for this ring and he pulled out a ring box from his pocket. He got on his knee and said he wanted me to be his wife. I was more than happy to be his wife. The next couple of months were a whirlwind of planning and preparing to be sealed for eternity. I'm so glad that I said yes and so thankful that I have such a wonderful hubby. It's been seven years and he is still the man of my dreams. There is no seven year itch here. He's stuck with me forever;) So March 10 will always be special to me because it was the start of a wonderful, new journey in our lives.

P.S. I still have my plastic ring;)

Way-Back Wednesday

Is it Wednesday again already???

Well, this is me in my junior year. I actually really like this pic minus how high my bangs are. This was the beginning of my era of perms. I pretty much permed my hair until a little while before I got married. My last one was a bit too tight and that was it for me. No more perms. Travis called me the female Kenny G with that last one;) It was bad!!! I'm surprised he still went out with me!!

I like this picture because this is my niece Gianna (who just turned 13) and I think Makenna looks a little like her. I was probably around 21 here and my mom and I watched my two nieces a lot when they were little and we loved it. They are such sweet little girls and I got really close with them both. I can't believe they are teenagers now!!! Look at the crazy dog (who wants to be a cat) on the back of that chair! She still does that;) But so does our Lady!

And for the laugh of the day. This is my hubby on Halloween in 2001. He was in college and the wind symphony always plays a concert on Halloween and the performers were able to dress up. He decided to go as Anikin (sp?) from Star Wars. He even painted that shirt to look like it had dirt all over it from flying around the desert. I think he had a hard time seeing his music through those glasses though. Thank goodness they flipped up;)
