Dutchess

My mother in law sent me this e-mail that is so cute. It reminded me of a dog from my childhood but first, here is the e-mail;

An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home. He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep in a corner. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back, resumed his position in the hall, and slept for an hour. This continued for several weeks.
Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap."
The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar: "He lives in a home with ten children -- he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?"

This made me smile because there was a dog named Dutchess that would do the exact same thing to us when I was little. She lived across the street and when her parents left, she would jump her fence, jump our fence and ask to be let in. As you can see in the pictures, she made herself at home and you can also see that we didn't mind one bit.

Dutchess on my bed with covers and all;)

Here she is with me and my dad. She was a very sweet dog.

How sweet. That's the kind of dog we need. Just a vistor, no strings attached. I am considering getting the kids a puppy for Easter! Did I really just say that???

I just noticed the shoes. Those look like "thongs" from the grocery store. Am I the only one old enough remember they were called thongs before underwear was?

Those were my dad's thongs! I'm not the only one that wore their dad's thongs, am I??? Wait a minute...I'm going to say flip flops cause it just sounds weird to say I wore my dad's "thongs";)
That picture is made out of mirrors and my parents put them in our dining room of our next house with a lot prettier stuff around it. Thanks for noticing.

I loved the picture that went with that poem. It looked just like our Bubba. Dutchess adopted us. Her mom knew to just come over and get her when she got home.
