Grandma Great

We had some family in town from Utah (and my cuz Jenny from D.C.) so we all got together to see them. I wanted to spend some time with my Grandma and so I sat down by her and just visited with her.....just me and her. She all of a sudden whispers in my ear, "You know you are my favorite!!" I laughed and said that she probably says that to all of us. She looked right at me and said "Nope!!" She was very sincere about it and it was a special little moment with my Grandma that I didn't want to forget:)

Hiking at Mt. Charleston

Travis went to Magic Mountain with his friend's band all day Saturday so we decided to go to Mt. Charleston and do some hiking and have a picnic. It's been pretty hot lately and it was super nice to get some fresh air and enjoy the coolness up there.

Makenna was a trooper. She hiked the whole way up and down (and we went pretty far).

She kept stopping and resting because her 'legs were tired' but she kept on going;)

We found this little fort that someone built and Makenna loved it. It was a little weird because there was a picture hung up above it of some old people and it said 'together forever' on it. I wonder if they spread their ashes there or something.

I tried to take some pics of me and my kiddos but they don't like to look at the camera.

O-well....I tried. Makenna just wants to keep going. Makenna got walking sticks for us all at the fort. She was so cute with hers. It really helps a lot too.

Another rest. She looks like she is some serious deep thought;)

Jordyn fell asleep for most of it so I took her out of the backpack at the bottom of the trail and let her walk to our picnic area. She was in hog heaven too being able to walk around. I love those backpack/leash things. Every time she was about to fall, I just pulled on the leash and straightened her out. It was great. We had fun and the girls took a wonderful nap when we got home. Thanks Grandma and Papa for taking us with you;)

Bowling and Park fun

So, I'm finally getting around to posting about our fun from the week before last. That Tuesday we had gotten the go ahead for resuming play after her broken leg so we had a blast. Makenna had been begging to go bowling for awhile so I figured that would be a good treat after going through that doctor's appointment. We brought grandma along with us and we had a great time.

Miss J.J. was just chillin' in the stroller eating snacks the whole time (well until the very end;)

Our scores.....Makenna's first one was a 78 so her combined score for both games was 137! Not bad for an almost four year old;)

Makenna wasn't too happy that we had to leave. I think she would have stayed for a very long time bowling her heart out;)

Then, on Thursday, it was so beautiful outside that we took a trip to the park. I don't remember when we went to the park last but it was a long time. This time, Jordyn was old enough to have fun too.
Jordyn loved going back and forth over this bridge.
I'm not good at play dates to the park. I can't just sit and talk. I have to follow my kids around because they make me nervous. Makenna kept hanging out of this open spot on the slide that had a very big drop. I didn't like it!!
J.J. loved going down the slide.
And she was very proud of herself;)

My pretty (and very happy) little girl;)

The Little Children

Makenna: Mommy, Grandma said that Jesus loves me.
Me: That's right sweetheart!
Makenna: Where is He mom?
Me: Up in Heaven.
Makenna: I couldn't find Him in our house anywhere.
Me: You can't see Him but he's here.

Way-Back Wednesday

I haven't done Way-Back Wednesday for a couple of weeks but I decided I would do it this week and do it in honor of my Grandma whose birthday is today!!

I've posted this picture before but I love it. I think I look like my girls in it. (Including the chunky legs;)

This is in 1980. I'm in the middle with my Grandma and my cousin is on the left and big brother is on the right.

And don't mind my swollen face in this one. This is in April of 2001. This is my Grandma's wedding day and I had just gotten my wisdom teeth pulled. The whole side of my face looked like I was storing nuts. (That is why I turned my face but it still didn't helpÜ)

My poor Grandma has had a rough life. She got married when she was 17 to the love of her life, my Grandpa Clair. He died at the age of 42 of colon cancer and left my Grandma with 5 kids. She was only 34. She was alone for 17 years when she finally got married to her second husband Ken. After 15 years of marriage, he died of colon cancer. Can you believe that??? She quickly remarried to one of her boyfriends from High School, Duane, and he had a stroke soon after. She has been taking care of him ever since. My Grandma is the best and I have no idea why she has had such big trials in her life but she has been a wonderful example to me. She has stayed close to her Heavenly Father and the gospel. I know that my grandpa is waiting for her with open arms. I just hope he has to wait awhile!!

Happy Birthday Grandma

Happy Birthday Grandma!! You are an awesome Grandma and Great Grandma.

We love you!!

Hope you have a great dayÜ
