Gingerbread house!

This was my first attempt at a Gingerbread house. Travis did one last year with the girls while I was at work and he wouldn't do it this year. I said I would do it....it couldn't be THAT hard, right??? Um...yup, it could be that hard! The frosting was so thick that the plastic bag broke right away so I just slopped it on with my hands. It was super messy! I thought I was doing really well and figured we could put the gumdrops on the top since I had to put frosting there to hold it together. And then I figured we could put snow on the roof and then ended up putting ornaments all over. Well, you are supposed to let it dry overnight but I thought it was holding well until I saw that the gumdrops were sinking. The roof was starting to slide!!! Eeek!!

This is me trying to hold it together. I had Trav take a picture of it in case it just all fell apart.

After a lot of frosting under the eves to try to hold it together, we let it sit overnight. You see half of the gumdrops sunken into the middle of the roof:)

Makenna did all the 'ornaments' :)

The next day we finished it off with a door and window. We also put snow on the ground and plants around the front. I think it turned out well for my first time and Makenna had fun doing it with me. I wouldn't say I want to run out and do it again soon but I'm glad we did it:)

Random

We told Makenna that we were going to find out if she was having a brother or sister before we left for the doctors. At first she misunderstood and thought we were going to have the baby right then. And then my mom was preparing her that it might be a sister (because she was determined that she was getting a brother) and she replies, "I don't need another sister. I already have one!!!"

At my OB appointment, we got his and hers H1N1 shots. My doctor thought Trav should get one too since he is a teacher! So, hopefully everything will be alright. I think we have waited long enough to know that it is ok.

I think Jordyn is getting over being traumatized by Santa. She wants to look at the pic now and smiles.

We put up our tree and Christmas stuff right after Thanksgiving and Makenna thought that Santa was coming that night. She was quite disappointed. She is really at a fun age this year.

Jordyn is being nicer to our tree this year. Last year, we had no ornaments on the whole bottom because she wouldn't quit messing with it. She will still bring me an ornament here and there but not too bad.

We put beads on the tree this year and Makenna asked us why we were putting necklaces on it.

Makenna won't leave the baby Jesus alone in my nativities.

We rotated some toys. We put some out in the garage to make room for the tree and put some back in that had been out for awhile and I think we should have just wrapped them and put them under the tree. It's like Christmas. They are so excited to play with all these 'new' toys:)

Jordyn has to have all her buds in her crib with her when she goes to sleep. She has Bolt, Rhino, and Mittens. Plus, a couple of babies, a doggie, Eeyore and two Minnie Mouses. And they have to be in a certain spot. She knows immediately if someone is missing.

Every time Lady barks (for any reason), Jordyn replies loudly, "Hama's here!!!"

Merry Christmas

I have been singing the girls Christmas songs instead of their usual ones during December and Makenna loves it. I wanted to share her beautiful singing. Unfortunately, she wouldn't sing unless I sang. Just try to tune out the bad singing mommy and enjoy the preciousness of my sweet girl! Merry Christmas! Ü

Christmas dresses

These are the beautiful Christmas dresses that both sets of Grandparents got them. They were too cute not to post.

Is that football on in the background??? Oops!! Nobody was supposed to see that.

Here we go

So, my friend Sarah, has finally convinced me to do a blog. I love to e-mail pics of my beautiful girls so I thought this would be an easier way for friends and family to see them and to keep in touch. Makenna also keeps saying things that crack us up and I needed somewhere to share them. She's my little parrot which isn't always the best thing but it makes me try to do better. We are currently trying to get her to stop saying 'punk'. I didn't realize how much both Travis and I said it. It doesn't seem like such a bad word but it just doesn't sound right when a little girl says it. She is also another little mommy to our baby Jordyn (J.J.) and always wants to do things for her. It's so funny because she hates that she can't feed her. Sometimes she tries to hold my boob and acts like she is the one that is feeding her. She also gets a little jealous that she can't have what J.J. has. I asked her what she wanted for lunch one day and she said, "some booboo". That is my two year old for you.
Jordyn has been sleeping seven hours straight this last week which is awesome for a two month old. Woo Hoo!!! It makes a big difference. I was way too cranky when she was only sleeping a couple of hours at a time. She was up again by the time I had fallen asleep. I just hope it stays like this. She went from sleeping five hours to six and now seven hours so we hope it just keeps getting better. Jordyn is such a sweet baby and smiles at us all the time. Especially for Travis. All he has to do is talk to her and she gets a big ol' grin on her face. I can't wait to see her little personality grow and develop.
We are already getting into the Christmas spirit. All of our decorations are up and I can't wait to do our advent calendar with Makenna. She is just at the right age where she will understand (well at least in a two year old sort of way). She got a little upset when I said it was Jesus' birthday because SHE wanted the presents. Hopefully she will start to get what the true meaning of Christmas is.
Well, that is my first post. I hope that you enjoy reading all about our craziness as much as we love living it.
