We went to Target today to get Sleeping Beauty and after I parked, I opened Makenna's door with my clicker. I usually get Jordyn out first and then go unbuckle Makenna. Before I even opened Jordyn's door, Makenna was out of the van. I know she was buckled before we left so I was a little baffled! I asked her how she got out and she casually replied, "I pushed the button!" Um.....what??? You are only three. You are not supposed to be able to get out of your car seat!! (Or is this normal?) Do kids normally learn how to unbuckle their car seats at this age? I thought that it might have been a fluke and that she wouldn't be able to do it again but she did it again when we got home. How am I going to keep this girl in her car seat while we are driving? I don't care if she gets herself out when we get somewhere. I just worry that she will unbuckle herself while I'm driving and I won't know. She is really good about seat belts. She yells at us if we haven't gotten ours on but what do I do to make sure she stays in her chair???

Does yours have a 3-point harness? On one that has that, they have to be able to open two belts. Anyway, usually by 3 years all my kids could open their seats but the nice thing was that they could also put themselves in :0)
Makenna is such a smart little chica that if you tell her DON"T TAKE YOUR SEATBELT OFF UNTIL I TELL YOU....she will totally do it! Bella unbuckles herself constantly, but is really good at only doing it when I tell her...surprisingly!! I keep the child locks on, just in case, of course!
Bodily harm? Only kidding. Totally normal and seriously frustrating. I am not sure what would work. Maybe a death stare? Child locks are always good, that way she can't get out. That always scares me. My van doors won't open if it's in drive, are yours like that?
It is a 3-point harness and she undoes it way too quickly!! She's had the top part mastered for awhile but she just learned the actual buckles. And you are so right Sarah. She always does the exact opposite of what I say;) I've had the child locks on but it still scares me that she might be out of her belts just in case I'm in an accident. (knock on wood)Ü
