Day 8 Gettysburg

Well, for some reason blogger will only let me post my pics centered so that is how it will be. We took a day to see Gettysburg. They have a car tour where you can buy a cd and listen to it as you see each stop. It tells you where to go and when to stop. It is pretty awesome to be able to just go and do it without worrying about disrupting anyone if the girls got fussy!!
This is at the visitor's center before the tour.
Travis took a bunch of pics of Kenna while we were at the visitor's center. She was being a good model for once;)

We had to keep stocked full of candy to keep J.J. happy;)
So, I don't really remember what all these statues represent!! But they are cool pics and I know that this is an eternal flame! And those people aren't anyone we know. All pics were taken from the car. We were tired of walking!!
A cool looking building;)
A cannon
Cool looking statue;)
This is statue of Robert E. Lee.
Crazy looking statue with an angel on a fallen soldier.
This guy looks like Robin Williams' statue in 'Night at the Museum' to me;-)
This is a hill where one of the battles was fought.
This is a really neat tribute statue. It's by far the biggest one and it's because it's for the state of Pennsylvania.
Pit stop;) Makenna had to go potty baaaaaaaad!! There was supposed to be a bathroom in the midst of those trees way back there. We got all the way over there and it was closed. But not all was lost. No one was around so I had her water the tree;) Unfortunately, now she wants to go potty outside all the time now!! The thing behind us is a natural spring and at night the soldiers would come together and drink from it together peacefully. I guess they would even play cards and hang out at night but start fighting each other again once the sun came up again. Crazy!!

The rest of these are of the sight of the last battle of the war.

After our tour, we got some sandwiches and had a picnic at one of the spots near the sights. The girls got to run around for a bit and then it was back in the car and off to Washington D.C. It really wasn't that long of a drive but I think the girls were tired of the car. What do you think???

Gettysburg was really interesting. When you think of all of the people who lost their lives there, it is mind boggling. J had a hard time getting back in the car after having her freedom. Who can blame her. Ken must be faking it. I don't remember her falling asleep.

You've done a great job posting about your trip! Almost (not quite) like we were there with you! lol
Can't blame the girls for being tired....I know how that goes; especially in the heat and humidity. Just want to be in a place where it is cool. Thanks for sharing all these great pix.

It has been fun to read all your vacation posts. It brings back a lot of memories for me and makes me want to go back east right now. I love all the trees and the greenery.
